At the risk of sounding cliché, I can not believe Fall already here! It’s my favorite season thanks to Halloween, the promise of turkey enchiladas for Thanksgiving and being able to wear layers. I was over the harvest moon to get to wear this Daniel Rainn dress which was sent to me by the brand. I’m still not shopping, but blogging has its perks and although I’ve been very selective about the PR samples I accept this year in an effort to simplify my belongings/life, Daniel Rainn deserves a spot in every woman’s closet and here’s why…
Daniel Rainn is based in Los Angeles and as an Angeleno (for 3 years now!) I love supporting our local brands. Supporting local businesses is really important because it benefits the whole community. Providing jobs, strengthening the local economy and increasing environmental sustainability are just a few of the benefits of supporting local companies. Think about it, if a garment was designed and created in your city and you ride your bike to the shop where you purchase it, you probably saved several gallons of water, gas, etc and put your hard earned money into the hands of a local business owner. I just love that. Not that I exclusively buy from small businesses, just something that I have been trying to do more and more. When you love something enough, it doesn’t really matter where it is from so long as it makes you happy! It’s all about balance and I try not to stress out too much about buying purely local things, but if something is local that’s a definite added bonus.
It’s a woman-led business. Owner, Mandy Wang has always believed in creating brands that empower the individual woman and that’s exactly what she did with Daniel Rainn. Much like purchasing local things when possible, I can’t pretend that I only buy things from women-run companies, but it sure is nice to know you are supporting fellow females when you purchase something you love.
Wang’s business partner, Creative Design Director, Daniel Norzagaray provides an aesthetic that is both modern and timeless ie pieces you can buy and keep for a long time. You can tell by this dress, he draws influence from boho-chic lifestyles which is everything I’ve been feeling lately! Something about living closer to the ocean has definitely influenced my style making it more bohemian (sometimes to Kaare’s chagrin). What can I say? It’s more comfortable, practical and (I think) pretty appealing. 🙂 Speaking of living by the ocean, when I wore this, we were house hunting which is mostly just for fun at this point, but we did find the cutest (albeit tiny) condo about 9 blocks closer to the ocean and now we are dreaming about nightly beach strolls with the family. Maybe someday! For now, we are happy to be a quick bike ride away.
