It would be dishonest of me to say during my year of not shopping I’ve also given up all blogger gifts (a blogger has got to make content, right?) To keep myself from saying ‘yes’ to every retailer who might be kind enough to want to send samples for review, I had to make stricter rules for myself and set up the following criteria for which gifts have to meet at least one of, but obviously both would be best:
- Gifts must be from a small or woman run business
- Gifts must be from a company that supports a philanthropic cause I’m passionate about
I was delighted when I got the opportunity to work with Rachel Zoe and the team at Box of Style back in the Summer and legit wore the crap out of that Spring box and amassed plenty compliments on each of the pieces every time I wore one. BTW full video review here if you missed that box. When the Fall Box of Style showed up at my doorstep I was giddy with excitement to see what was inside and immediately tore it open like an adolescent on Christmas morning. Now, I had high expectations for this one because of my experience with the Spring box and this season’s Box Of Style completely delivered. There was honestly only one thing I didn’t immediately obsess over and that is more of a personal style thing than an actual issue with the merchandise, but more on that below. Let’s get to what’s inside!
Cleobella capelet retails for $228. This luxe bordeaux colored cape is reversible, but that’s not the only reason it’ll be your closet’s most versatile piece for Fall. You can wear it for practically any occasion from errands to a night out. (I rarely have those, but can attest it works for that!)
B-Low The Belt wrap belt retail for $70. I’ve wanted one of these belts for a long time now so was thrilled when I spotted it. I always loved the ones with double buckles that look super-Western (the AZ in me never dies) but this wrap belt is so elegant and versatile I can wear it with anything and can count on it being classic enough to stay chic for years to come.
Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum retails for $79. I am a huge sucker for good skin care and by ‘sucker’ I mean ‘winner’ because unlike clothes I used to impulse buy on the reg, skin care looks good in every season and goes with everything. I’ve actually used this product before and love it for its ability to make Winter skin look really dewy and radiant even when it may be dry AF outside.
Ettika Chloe Tassel Necklace retails for $80. Okay, so if you know me you probably guessed this is the piece I wasn’t crazy about. Don’t get me wrong, it is beautifully made and the quality is amazing (it’s an 18K gold-plated necklace complete with crystal accents for crying out loud). It would add the perfect amount of sparkle to any outfit and looks effortlessly cool thanks to the layered look that’s just one easy piece, but lately, I’ve been keeping my jewelry super minimal and this is just a little too glam for my style these days. I just pulled it off the shelf for reserch purposes and it really is an eye-catchign staement piece I think most people would adore.
Beauty Pie Über Volume Boost Mascara retails for $24. I’ve tried A LOT of mascaras in my life and this formula is amazing—it gives me that glossy and voluminous look and is long lasting.
If you’re just as obsessed with Box of Style as I am, you can try it out with $25 off a subscription:
