Fit Snack, a monthly health food subscription box, launched their first box this month and I was all over it. All of their snacks are consciously-made, gluten-free, raw and low in sugar. This box was packed (and I mean packed… I still have snacks to eat and received my box 2 weeks ago) with protein-dense, delicious bites many of which I hadn’t tried before.
My favorite treat in the box was the gluten-free pancake mix. If you’re gluten-free, you know how difficult it is to find good pancakes. You have to mix three to four different types of flour to get the perfect texture and after years of trying, I’ve come to the conclusion that only wizards or Angela Liddon can make that happen flawlessly. The mix in my box was pre-made and required minimal additions (eggs, water and oil) and the result was spectacular. I had three buttery pancakes and zero regrets.
The Protein Bakery goodies I got were bursting with flavor and had the bonus of being wheat flour-free and trans fat-free. They are packed with protein which makes one of my new favorite pre and post workout snacks. Speaking of workouts, the box had some at-home strength training workouts on convenient little cards. I plan on bringing them with me on my trip to NYC next week so that I can work out at the hotel after meetings.
I would be lying if I said all the snacks were for me. Harlowe was a big fan of the pumpkin seed and almond mix. Healthy snacks she likes with a slow release of energy (vs. the crazy frenetic energy she gets from sugary snacks) are hard for me to find, but once I do I fall in love. I like to think she does too.
What’s your favorite healthy snack? I hope you all have a great weekend!
