You know the feeling when it’s 2pm on day one of a cleanse and you are wondering why the heck you thought it would be a good idea to start one? I am all too familiar with that. It’s usually after a particularly indulgent weekend (ahem, Superbowl) that I feel like I need to reset my fuel. I’ve done juice cleanses here and there and always for just one day, but it’s not something I recommend doing often. Doing a cleanse with any regularity is not a realistic, sustainable way to take care of yourself. Nobody should be that hungry by choice!
I’m not completely against cleanses, but we simply need more nutrients than they can provide so I gravitate towards spending money on real food that is healthy and trying to be super consistent about eating well. With a balanced lifestyle, we really shouldn’t need to cleanse. The truth of the matter is we have a natural detox system in our body that works very well when treated well.
I’m not the best at prepping food, if you’ve followed me for any length of time you may have gathered that I love to treat myself take-out and it would be a brutal wakeup call for me to live without healthy meal delivery services. Luckily, there are so many convenient ways to get healthier eating habits in your routine to keep you nourished and feeling your best. Daily Harvest does just that for me by delivering pre-packaged smoothies, snacks and soups to my front door so I always have something nourishing to reach for when the hunger pangs strike. It sure helps me stay on track.
Their pre-packaged cups include smoothies, harvest bowls, soups, oat bowls, chia bowls, lattes and bites that all require very little prep. The smoothies are filled with healthy ingredients that you may not already have on hand like chlorella which works hard to protect your body from harmful compounds such as heavy metals and other environmental toxins. Mint Cacao is a favorite which not only has chlorella but also spinach for iron, bananas for vitamin C and potassium and cashew butter for heart-healthy fat will keep your body running during a busy day.

The harvest bowls also have tons of ingredients in them that are beneficial to your body. If I had all these ingredients on hand at home. One of my favorite bowls is the Brussels Sprouts and Lime Pad Thai. I add chicken or tofu to it in order to get more protein so it keeps me full for several hours. When I need a snack, their bites (AKA a snack that actually satisfies) are a great treat. Lately, I love to get off the Peloton and have some cacao nib and vanilla bites. They’re a lovely post-workout snack inspired by homemade cookie dough (one of my all-time favorite guilty-pleasures), but made with whole, nourishing ingredients. I think I would need another fridge and a pantry twice the size to have all the necessary ingredients on hand to make these meals and snacks on my own. Daily Harvest puts getting plenty of fruits and veggies everyday on autopilot and you don’t need a chef’s kitchen or a daily trip to the farmer’s market to make it happen. I have a promo code BETHANN25 for $25 off your first box if you want to try it out!
