Halloween is our favorite season/holiday. I know it’s technically Fall’s turn to shine, but spooky Halloween stuff is just so much more fun. Although this year is going to be quite different, we are putting on costumes (and smiles) to celebrate as regularly as we know how.
First up is decor. We have a bunch on hand after living together in spook-loving-bliss for 10 years, but added a few things this year, because you know, new house and all. I can’t wait for this corner sign and these bats to come in so I can put the finishing touches on our decor…even if it will only get seen on Instagram. I might not be appreciating it with any guests this year, but I will still appreciate it!
Next is costumes! We are going to dress up in an effort to keep it as normal as possible for the kids (and because WE LOVE DRESSING UP!) Our costumes from 2 years ago are probably my favorite to date and to this date. It is still my most popular pin everrrr but last year’s costume was featured on HGTV this year (pinch me) so I don’t know how we will top that!
Now for seasonal drinks because you know I love smoothies. I also love coffee so we are throwing in a healthier pumpkin spice latte to order next time you are at Starbucks. I don’t care how basic it makes me, a pumpkin spice latte makes you feel like it’s Fall even though it’s 75 degrees out and there are NO seasons where I live. Plus, they’re delicious.
Pumpkin Smoothie
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
1/2 cup milk alternative (I love oat milk)
1/2 cup crushed ice
6 oz coconut yogurt (plain)
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp pumpkin spice mix
1-2 pitted dates
top with 1/2 tsp cinnamon
To make your own pumpkin spice mix, combine:
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
pinch of ground nutmeg
pinch of ground cloves or allspice
If you’re ordering your pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks @themacrobarista says to ask for:
a GRANDE Cafe Misto (you can get blonde, medium, or dark, depending on what roasts they have available)
ALMOND milk
ONE (1) pump of pumpkin sauce
TWO (2) pumps of sugar free cinnamon dolce syrup
Optional: Add 1-2 Splenda or other zero cal sweetener
Stir it up a bit to get the pumpkin nice and mixed
Honestly might still have to order mine iced because it’s been so hot here and I am loving this reusable cup for when we can bring our own cups to Starbucks again. Until, then I’ve been making an effort to make *most* of my coffee at home whenever possible so I don’t waste cups. Here’s my at-home recipe.
At-home Pumpkin Spice Latte
2 cups oat milk steamed
3 tablespoons pumpkin puree, or to taste
2-3 drops or a very small pinch of Now Better Stevia
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin-pie spice
1/2 cup hot coffee (I’ve been using Starbucks coffee with essential vitamins.)
Optional
whipped cream (we use this dairy alternative)
I’d love to hear what you are up to this Fall. Whatever it is I hope you are safe at home and finding lots of ways to enjoy yourself. 🙂 Shop the post below:
