Hi friends! It’s almost Mother’s Day and hopefully, you’re thinking of something really nice to get your mom or you know, to send a little hint about to whoever buys your Mother’s Day gift. I’m the latter because as many of you know, I lost my mom eleven years ago. I miss her terribly every day but actually have grown to love Mother’s Day even though I detested it after her death because now I look at it as a way to celebrate Motherhood. I love this day to celebrate moms and badass women with motherly tendencies. So what are you going to get those women / make sure you get this year? I can’t wait to hear about it. Whether it’s breakfast in bed, a day at the spa or simply sleeping in… you def deserve it!
Obviously, we’re all very busy so this year I wanted to give you some peace of mind and perhaps some fresh ideas on those days you can’t make it to the gym or maybe just don’t care to. Those days happen and I’m not going to lie, I still feel a twinge of guilt about them especially when unplanned, but then non-gym days are often the ones I remember so this Mother’s Day I am giving you a few ways to make fitness a part of your daily routine.
Dance: This one is hands-down my family’s favorite. We are known to bust out in to dance parties at home and yes even at birthday or dinner parties. It’s fun, gets everyone excited and if you’re in to counting calories burned – super effective.
Walk: Another huge hit in our family. If you can possibly walk instead of drive just do it. You won’t believe the one-on-one time I’ve been able to sneak in with each of the kids and the funny stories or even, things they’ve said to be in confidence while on our walks. Obviously, being together and being outside is the most important aspect of making walking a habit, but it has added benefits of burning 90-200 calories in just 30 min. That’s a latte!
Play: Remember those games you used to play where you clapped hands and sang songs. These hand-clapping games are still just as fun TBH and they help the kiddos with hand-eye coordination. Ever the mom that’s slightly competitive, I’m secretly trying to get Harlowe and I to this level. Another favorite fitness game for parents and kids is Twister. Oh, the stretching!
Hold a plank: This is a challenge and a great way to sneak in workouts. When you get frustrated and need a min or find yourself with a min to spare (like when the kids are independently brushing their teeth) hold plank. Even if you just sneak it one plank a day that 365 min of plank you wouldn’t have done otherwise!
Add workouts to your calendar: The aforementioned are all great ways to stay active, but if you are really focused on a particular goal you might need a little more. I am a big fan of going to a gym with childcare so I can get some ‘me time’ to work out, but I can totally relate when people say there isn’t enough time in the day to work out. Write your workouts into your daily schedule. This benefits me physically and mentally and we are all better for it! *If you don’t have a gym with childcare, consider using a fitness app and logging in your workouts after the kids go to bed. I’m writing a full post on my favorite fitness apps now so stay tuned for more! It will be live here tomorrow!
Treat yourself: Obviously, this one isn’t meant to do on the reg (our closets can only hold so much) but cute new workout clothes are a damn good motivator. Like most, if I have a new set I’m excited to wear, I will happily throw it on and get my butt moving. I practically live in athleisure since I work from home even when I am not working out and am a big fan of dressing comfortably and inviting movement into your daily routine. All the athleisure pieces worn here are linked below and I’m always posting my favorite activewear (along with clean beauty products and anything else I’m dying for) right here! Be sure to follow along on the app for updates.

The number one rule is if you’re not having fun, you’re not doing it right. Above all else, find something you enjoy doing because that’s what it’s really all about! I hope you all have a Happy Mother’s Day filled with love and a little bit of fitness! xo
