If you’ve followed me on Instagram for any amount of time, you know I love being by the water and running. A nice run on the beach can cure just about any bad day and definitely brings clarity when I need it most. I couldn’t imagine a world where putting one foot in front of the other and breathing in the fresh outdoor air wasn’t possible which is why I’m equally passionate about cleaning the oceans and doing whatever we can to keep them beautiful.
So much of the plastic we throw away ends up in our oceans, with the effects spreading to every corner of the globe. Plastics enter the food chain, harm marine life, destroy environments, and even affect climate change. There is literally nowhere on earth, or in our oceans, that is not affected by plastic pollution. The way I see it, it’s us versus plastic waste and that’s a race we can not afford to lose. Adidas is working with Parley to fight against the plastic pollution that is damaging our oceans by using plastic trash collected from remote beaches and coastal communities as the raw material for an entire activewear collection called Primeblue, a high-performance recycled material made in part with plastic recovered from our oceans.
I love their Ultraboost shoes and have worn so many variations over the years — these 21’s are beyond comfortable and just supportive enough without getting too heavy for long runs. I am training for a half marathon that’s in November and they have been the perfect training shoe with just enough bounce to keep me going. I wear them along with these shorts and highly-ventilated tee also made with Primeblue.
I’m very excited to work with adidas again this year to bring awareness to their Run for the Oceans campaign. We can all sign up beginning today (May 18th) to work together to help end plastic waste and unite with people all over the world taking part in the effort. Download the adidas running app and track your runs from May 28 – June 8. If you’re going for a run during that time, please DM me @bethann.wagner or tag me in your stories with #BAFitTips or my handle so I can cheer you on!
