My sleepwear game is not particularly strong. Until recently, it’s been primarily made up of Kaare’s tees and bottoms I’d be embarrassed about anyone seeing. Note: if your friends want to throw you a pre-wedding lingerie/sleepwear party, don’t make the mistake I did. Say yes to the undress and reap the benefits of cute sleepwear for years to come! I opted for a chill pre-wedding experience and spent all of my clothing budget on shoes, bags and workout clothes for the past 7 years. Basically, from where I was in the sleepwear department, there was nowhere to go but up so when Lunya invited me to their ‘Dream Skin Starts in the Bedroom’ event I replied so fast it probably scared them.
I’ve heard of Lunya before and even drove by their Santa Monica offices a few times. Forbes has some nice things to say about them too, “Taking a problem-solving approach to design, Lunya focuses on blending technology with smart data, extensive studies and rare fabrics scientifically proven to enhance the sleep experience.” Who doesn’t want that? I tested Forbe’s statement wearing their Pima Romper and their Pima Long Cardigan here and good lord, are they cozy. Not only did I get great sleep, but I felt very comfortable and even stylish while getting ready for bed. Interested in trying it yourself? Treat yo-self, girl – get $20 off Lunya!
I also had the chance to test several new skincare products aimed at helping us make the most of our beauty sleep. You guys know before I share things I like to test the crap out of them so I can give you an honest review about my experience, so I tried these for the last 3+ weeks to really get a feel for results they’d yield. Sleeping Beauty I am not, (honestly if you are sleeping phenomenally and you have 2 young kids, give me your number so I can call you and cry) but I have had noticeably better skin particularly in the dewiness department.
Algenist Genius Sleeping Collagen: When I first felt this on my skin I was really impressed with how thick and creamy it was. I worried it would feel heavy in my face, but it doesn’t. It is actually quite light, but still very effective and tightening and lifting skin overnight.
Tatcha Violet C Brightening Serum: I’ve been on the hunt for a cleaner version of my favorite Vitamin C and this one might be the winner. It definitely delivers the smoothness and evenness I am after. It uses Mild Fruit AHAs to chemically exfoliate so I’ve taken a break from my combo Vitamin C (Skin Ceuticals CE Ferulic Acid) and AHAs (Sunday Riley Good Genes). I love when you can simplify your skin care routine, so I am not quitting this anytime soon.
Algenist Liquid Collagen: I’m a serum-happy person in that I am happy to try a dozen new serums each year in the name of research. This one appeals to me because it is a vegan formula, unlike other collagens I’ve tried. I noticed after 10 days that my skin was slightly bouncier. I must note, I tested these in January when I was also doing dry January so less wine is probably also part of the reason my skin seemed bouncier (thanks, hydration), but it probably doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that my skin is noticeably softer and for that I think I need to thank this little bottle. The first time you put it on, you’ll notice a glow immediately. I was pleased to find the luminosity it provides doesn’t go down the drain entirely when you wash in the morning, but remains in the skin letting it glow all day.
Murad Night Fix: This seriously smells so good I can’t understand it. Apparently, when tested in clinical trials, the scent was found to enhance sleep quality. I believe it. I’m proof. Do you remember when I met Dr. Murad at the event and couldn’t get over how sweet he was? Insta Story fam knows! Besides Dr. Murad being the most adorable, grandpa/teddybear-like human filled with sound advice and feel-good vibes, he is also one hell of a businessman and effective dermatologist. This Night Fix Enzyme repairs skin overnight to give you the radiant, healthier-looking skin associated with a good night’s sleep all while avoiding nasties like sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehyde, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone.
Murad Spray RESTore Sleep Oral Spray If like me, you’ve ever dealt with anxiety, this is for you. It contains GABA which help you de-stress and relax, while melatonin regulates your body’s circadian rhythm, promoting deep, restful sleep. I love that it has a convenient little spray bottle so I can use this before I hop into bed and don’t have to worry about having water to swallow a pill. I’ve tried melatonin gummies, but once Gunnar ate some (nothing happened, but it scared the crap out of me) so I won’t keep those on the nightstand any more. The spray seems safer (the kids can’t use accidentally use this yet) and I love the GABA to help with racing thoughts when I’m trying to turn off my brain.
P.S. I am also Reading The Little Book of Skincare by Charlotte Cho – she is the woman behind Soko Glam which I became obsessed with a few years ago when I got hooked on the Korean Skincare Routine. I recommend it if you are even a little bit interested in skincare – the life she has lived so far and the business she has built is really impressive and totally inspiring.
