I try about a dozen new skincare products per month thanks to generous PR samples and, admittedly, a bit of a preoccupation with skincare which leads me to purchase too many products with my own money even though this year has largely been about not shopping for me. So of coure, now that many are on sale, I spent too much time scouting out the best ones so I can share them with you.
In case you were worried; I am not breaking any of my ‘no shopping’ rules this year by shopping this sale because I only said I wouldn’t buy clothes, shoes, bags or makeup. BOOM! With that, Happy Nordstrom Anniversary Sale season! If you are not sick of hearing about it yet (you’re not, right?!) here are eleven must-haves for skin care.
Perricone MD Cold Plasma Sub D This light green concoction not only smells amazing but does wonders for tightening skin. I admittedly bought this after watching a far-too-long infomercial about it while I was on the treadmill at my gym. All they had to say was ‘tightens skin at the jawline’ before I was ordering at a 6.0 mph pace (my fingers, not my feet because I paused the treadmill to take care of more important things). Whatever I can do to keep the jawline more taught.
StrVectin Tightening Neck CreamTime stated that Americans in the 25-34 age bracket look at their devices 50 times per day. That means 50 times you are creating creases in your neck which could turn in to wrinkles. Not only that, but normal aging takes a toll on the skin too. Did you know we all lose 1% elasticity every year after 30? I’m not one for scare tactics when it comes to recommending great products, but these stats have stuck with me for years. Hey, I look at my phone at least that many times, but often for looooong periods of editing photos or watching YouTube videos (especially when I worked there) and I don’t mind aging at all, but I want to slow down the signs of it I see from my bad habits like too much phone usage and focus on enjoying the aging signs I see from things like smiling.
Supergoop has long been my favorite sunscreen and you’ve maybe even heard me rave about if before. This setting mist is a dream come true when you’re out and about with a full-face of makeup and need to apply some more SPF. Read another way – you’ll never need to sacrifice your makeup by putting sunscreen all over it again.
Herbivore Botanicals not only makes my favorite jade roller, but I’ve also become obsessed with uber-hydrating and deliciously scented Rose Water Mist. This set is awesome because you can get three of their best-selling products for all the deep hydration and cellular regeneration your skin will want after a Summer of fun. Plus, they all smell like someone bottled up a relaxing day at a rose garden.
Another Supergoop favorite is this setting powder. I am so glad it’s on sale because I ran out of mine last week. I love using this for SPF touch-ups when I am out and about. It’s perfect for those days when it’s hot and humid and you need a little more shine control.
Every lipstick wearer needs a good lip scrub and Sara Happ’s is the best one around. I love that this set comes with a balm that brings your skin’s natural color to life with all the glossy hydration imaginable.
If you haven’t tried microdermabrasion yet, go do it now. This microderm device provides chemical-free exfoliation that’s 800% deeper than a scrub. It has helped so much with hyperpigmentation (melasma) that I got during pregnancy. The Banker tried to make me believe I didn’t need this because I already have a Clarisonic which helps a lot with exfoliation, but this exfoliates a lot deeper and promotes cell turnover while reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
If you have a baby or know someone who does or who might soon, get them this lotion. It smells so so so good and is super gentle on their delicate skin. Their shampoo and body wash is a soap-free formula gently cleanses baby-soft skin without stripping away natural moisture. Harlowe has aged out of this product sadly and Gunnar needs something different because he has eczema so I am picking some of this up for baby shower gifts. I know they’re going to love it!
The Glam Glow Masks are always raved about (and seemingly always part of the Anniversary Sale) because they are totally worth the hype. I use these before I put on makeup for important shoots because they make your skin look so damn good. I am talking, no visible pores and a flawless complexion with a perfect amount of glow.
Hands down the best face wash I’ve ever used. Using EveLom feels like having a luxurious facial at the spa but you never left your own bathroom. The muslin cloth experience is enough to not make me need a glass of wine (although I usually have one anyway). It’s just such a treat and feels so indulgent even though you are really just washing your face. Not sure how someone made face washing so enjoyable, but I do know using it removes all of the makeup and impurities on your skin and leaves your face feeling absurdly soft.
Hum Vitamins have been getting a lot of hype lately and I am partial to the hair, skin and nail gummies because I take enough pills thanks to the Goop ‘Why am I so Effing Tired?’ blend I am on, but I have taken the Red Carpet vitamins and compliments on my skin did ensue.
