One thing I’ve resolved to get better at is investing in more sustainable, socially conscious pieces. That’s why Etkie, a jewelry line with a story as beautiful as the pieces themselves, has caught my attention. Etkie is a jewelry and accessories company committed to the financial and social empowerment of Native American women in New Mexico.
The mother-daughter team started the line aimed at empowering Native American women; after accumulating beautiful handcrafted pieces while traveling, they realized they could make a difference with similar pieces right in their home state.
Etkie’s magnificent pieces are all hand crafted by formerly unemployed Native American women and the finishings are sewn by a local cooperative that employs low-income women. Their beaded bracelets provide women with business opportunities that preserve their culture.
