When I am not in workout clothes, a jumpsuit will usually do the trick. Sure I am a sucker for the ease of not having to pick out separates and hope they coordinate flawlessly, but also I love the way jumpsuits elongate my 5’4″ frame. This particular jumpsuit can be found here. I get myself in to trouble because they have a brick and mortar location right across from our apartment and I am ALWAYS spotting things I love when I walk by.
I’ve actually been a fan of this brand for about 8 years. I discovered them after going back to work at Google post maternity leave. You can see a reallly old post I wore a top pf theirs in —that’s tough for me to look at now! God, the photos! Anyway, at 11 weeks post-partum, none of my clothes fit just right and was starting a new job after leaving my old sales job. I wanted new pieces that fit better and my old clothes were pretty cheap and just weren’t hip enough for Google in my mind. Note: I soon learned many of my Google colleagues didn’t care one way or the other about my #OOTD, but it made me feel better to show up looking and feeling my best. Going back to work after your first kid is hard enough, you might as well feel pretty confident about your clothes and this SF-based, sustainable brand helped me do just that.
This brand was actually my gateway in to green or sustainable fashion. Before that, the most sustainable I got was buying second-hand, but I honestly did that out of necessity (living in SF was SO expensive and before I got to Google I made a pretty small salary.) Here I am 8 years later and I still love brands like Amour Vert.
In fact, I am more in to sustainable fashion that I ever thought I would be. I really try to avoid purchasing something unless it is somewhat sustainable or at least, philanthropic like Toms shoes or something of that nature. Oh, and I still buy second-hand especially when I want something expensive like a designer bag or a dress that will probably be worn once. That’s why I am on my favorite resale app practically everyday… It’s me Spending Freeze and no, I am not currently on one. Been there done that!
It’s worth mentioning that I just tried Skims for the first time under this jumpsuit after a friend swore to me it was the best shape-wear she’s ever tried. I did like that you couldn’t see ANY lines even under this thinner fabric. I usually go commando in workout clothes (normal, right?) but in real clothes I feel like that’s less appropriate.
Here are some more of the outfit details from today’s post…
