I recently got a new bike as a replacement for one that was stolen not too long ago. I love my new bike, especially the matte purple color and the lightweight frame (read: I can carry this one up the stairs to my apartment so it will never be left outside.) I’ve already taken it to the Farmer’s Market, a few parks and our favorite kid-friendly restaurants. Straddling a saddle requires a different kind of dress so I’ll be wearing more shorts, flats, tank tops and up-dos. I dig how #3 makes a messy bun look a little less undone. I’m also a fan of turbans to cover hemet hair.
I’ve found that I am most trim during the months swimsuits are typically tucked away in drawers; an unfortunate evolution of fitness that I blame on workout-friendly weather. I tend to go for longer runs in cooler months and spend warmer months lounging inside or at the beach. In an effort to get in to better Summer shape, I’ve been going to CoreSPX twice weekly and running outside. To keep cool, I run in dry-fit clothes, breathable shoes, hats and cruelty-free sunscreen.
There’s no better way to relax the mind and stretch the IT bands than a yoga class. When you’re sculpting muscles using your whole body’s weight, you’ll heat up on the inside no matter the temperature outside. I like to wear cropped pants (or shorts if it’s Bikrim) and open-backed tanks to combat the heat. I look for non-slip headbands to keep fly aways at bay and comfy sandals for my trek to class. You can’t be in a bad mood when you’re wearing colorful sandals like these.
Oh, and not to get too personal, but these moisture wicking underwear help eliminate VPL and always stay in place. I wear them during all my workouts; they stay dryer than cotton.
What’s your favorite workout for Summer?
